Educational Programs

These programs are based on two decades of ongoing research, about the roles of journalism and art in the so-called information societies of the 21st century. They offer a basic understanding of the technological, socio-economic and political context surrounding the contemporary media landscape; and are the gateway to a deeper study of subjects such as: Journalism and Media and Communications; Art and Literary criticism; Latin American studies and Audiovisual storytelling. They are all available in English and some in Spanish and/or bilingual editions and can be taught independently or adapted into established curriculums involving social sciences, Spanish and English.

News & Information

Presents a historical analysis about the different forms societies have exchanged information: from oral tradition to the so-called digital revolution.

Art & Propaganda

​Presents a historical analysis based on George Orwell’s statement: ‘all art is propaganda’. It includes the case studies: The Orwellian Vision of Utopia and Two examples from Colombian literature of the 20th century.

Jaime Garzón's Colombia

A nation through the work of a prophetic humorist. Short program about the late humorist and political commentator Jaime Garzón (1960-1999)​

 

Audiovisual Narratives

Educational program with basic theory and practical exercises on photography, camera operation, sound recording & editing, image & video editing.

Behind The Black Stain / Detrás de La Mancha Negra

Educational program about the life, work and death of José Eustasio Rivera (1888-1928), author of the novel The Vortex (1924) / Programa educativo acerca de la vida, obra y muerte de José Eustasio Rivera (1888-1928), autor de la novela La Vorágine (1924)

Programs under development: A new series currently under development follows up on the themes explored in the programs: Art & Propaganda and Behind The Black Stain, such as the influence of African and indigenous cultures in Latin American literature and cultural samples that represent the exploration and exploitation of the jungle during the 20th century.
